We simply couldn’t manage to do the work we do without the help of our volunteers. Your help, no matter how much or little, is vital to us and to the African and African Caribbean Elders that our work supports.

Our volunteers help in all several ways, from being a friendly face and providing informal befriending at our day centre to helping to fill and label envelopes in our busy admin office. We welcome volunteers of all ages from all backgrounds.

Please take a look at the current projects we require volunteers on via the menu on the left hand side of this page. Alternatively, you may have a skill that you would like to share that we haven’t asked for. Please let us know about the ways that you think you could support us. We welcome all suggestions!

What we offer

We offer induction, training and support for whatever role you take on. We can also offer travel and lunch expenses if you volunteer for more than 3 hours in one day.

We will require two references for all volunteers, ask you to attend an induction on Nubian Life and also complete a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check, which need be nothing to worry about, so long as you have no recent or relevant convictions.

You may find that you don’t want to make a regular commitment – we also offer chances to get involved on an occasional basis. You may help out at one of our events, or get involved in stewarding summer festivals or join one of our short-term inter-generational projects.

Whatever your interests and however much time you can offer, we would like to hear from you and we will see if we can find something to suit you. To find out more about steward training and futher information about volunteering with Nubian Life please contact: Jazz Browne [link to email address here]
